About The Canadian Akita Club

Club History

Founded in 2022 the Canadian Akita Club was started by a passionate group of breeders and exhibitors of the American style Akita, registered under the Canadian Kennel Club as simply Akita, in order to further promote our beloved breed amongst show exhibitors and pet people alike. The Akita previously had a national club in Canada but when it was dissolved it left the breed community disjointed without any official group to advocate for the breed, make changes to the standard and hold breed specialties. With this in mind and with hopes to work together as breeders and exhibitors across Canada CAC was born. Having gained CKC recognition in Febuary 2024 the Canadian Akita Club is the official national club for the breed under CKC regulations and is proud to represent this noble breed in Canada.
